– Forecast for Back-to-Back One-Acts Calls for Periods
of Knee Slapping with Intermittent Gut Busting –

Playwrights Jeremy Kehoe and Paul Elliott have teamed up to showcase back-to-back one-act comedies in “Talkin’ It to the Streets”, opening at The Lounge Theatre in Hollywood January 13.

Kehoe, whose Los Angeles productions include “Killing Russell Crowe” and “Ready, Aim, You’re Fired”, puts the street-themed show in gear with “Car Play: She & Him”.

“Car Play” tells the tale of two middle-of-the-road castaways navigating pothole-laden lives. In the lead is Jill, whose ability to suck the color from a rainbow has pushed her therapist off the psychological ledge and left her flying solo in an overcrowded world. Tailgating her is Greg, whose inability to scratch his existential itch has left him looking for answers at the oracle of Gin and Tonic (much to the chagrin of his aspiring-actor bartender, Vinny). With a Monday-morning drizzle icing their lives, Greg presses the accelerator of change, sending the two on a collision course for a partly cloudy future.

The production moves up a few flights with Elliott’s “Ledge, Ledger, and the Legend” – recently listed as one of the twenty-five most produced one-act plays in the last 20 years. When Peter climbed out on that ledge to commit suicide, he thought J.M. was trying to stop him. Wrong!!!! "Who knew Suicide could be so much fun?"

WHEN: “Talkin’ It to the Streets” opens January 13 and runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through January 22.

WHERE: The Lounge Theatre; 6201 Santa Monica Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90038

· THE SESSION Written by Carol Anne Seflinger: A woman with some unusual concerns meets with a new therapist for the first time, and by the end of the session, the therapist (and perhaps, the audience) may be seeking help. Directed by Dallas Dorsett.

Ed Woodham of Art in Odd Places (NYC) and Deborah Oliver of Performance Exchange (LA) invite artists working with visual and performance strategies to propose projects for Un-Space Ground, a visual and performance event that is part of ART IN THE PUBLIC REALM, presented by ARTSpace at the 100th annual College Arts Association Conference at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Saturday, February, 25, 2012.

Projects selected will be part of Un-Space Ground: The unvisited, unnamed, and uninhabited empty areas beneath the normally used parts of the urban landscape. We seek to program site-specific social and spatial interventions, performances, and new media that will activate spaces outside the Convention Center entrance and selected inside spaces.

The Un-Space Ground presentations will be coordinated with three panel sessions as part of the ARTSpace day long program "ART IN THE PUBLIC REALM", which will explore themes of activism and intervention, the environment, eco-systems and sustainable practices. Plus the role of artists and designers as dynamic catalysts in social and civic life, and how they can “feed innovative ideas into the bloodstream of society” through strategies and processes that activate the public arena.

WORLD PREMIERE!

When local artists and musicians Ellen Warkentine and Andrew Pedroza first saw an internet meme of a fat cat sitting on top of a keyboard, they wrote a song about it. They did not know that one song would turn into many more, that "Astrocat" would become the protagonist in a found lyrics operatic experiment, or that said experiment would evolve into a full length dystopian clash between low-brow humor and high art. They know it now. And this Fall, so will you. You can haz cheezburger? Why, yes. Yes, you can.

Several plays in the show have been published and produced, including Carwash; or In This Town, You Are What You Drive, which was a finalist in Secret Rose Theatre/Fire Rose Productions’ Ten-Minute Play Competition in 2008. Also included in the show are: The Stone Cat, Super 8 Versus Bacara Resort and Spa, More Precious Than Diamonds, the Musical, The Truth About the Trash In the Trailer, You Can’t Be Tony!/The Start of Something Real and Museum Tour, the Musical.

She wrote the music and lyrics for April in New York (book by Virginia Lynn Emrick) at ANMT (the Academy for New Musical Theatre), which was produced on the Secret Rose stage in 2008. Hutchinson adapted her play, More Precious Than Diamonds into More Precious Than Diamonds, the Musical in 2009, writing book, music and lyrics, as well as being the Musical Director/Pianist for the ten-show run. It’s Good 2 Be Crazy is a slice of life view into the world of Merryl and Joel, a 20-something couple who find their relationship challenged when he offers to support them both so she can pursue her musical ambitions. However, when Doug, a big-time music producer and family friend, enters the picture, Merryl and Joel’s strained relationship is catapulted into crisis.

The play speaks directly to Joanclair’s peers, an audience of young adults who can change the world:

It supports the work of talented new actors and aspiring female playwrights in Los Angeles
It celebrates young couples paving the way for women to pursue their dreams
It proclaims that the artistic life is worth fighting for
It’s a play that says strong men love strong women

Critically recognized, It’s Good 2 Be Crazy is a finalist in the Eventide Arts Competition and for the Kaplan Prize in Chatham, MA.

• Lynne Moses, the director, is best known for the hit comedy Paging Dr Chutzpah, which opened to great reviews and sold out performances at the Sidewalk Studio Theater in Toluca Lake.

Though the Shakespeare in the Park series was actually founded about 20 years ago, Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival (SCSF) is a new company continuing the tradition and serving the North LA County area. Working with the local city, SCSF is working to build an Arts and Event Park to house a full summer theatre festival.

This year's production is AS YOU LIKE IT, directed by Kelly Boczek-Petrie & Mark Petrie.

Opening July 9th and running Saturdays & Sundays through July 24th. All performances begin at 7:30 pm. Audiences are encouraged to bring a blanket or chairs & dinner and come out early for a picnic.
Snacks and Wine will be available at the perfromances.

All performances are free. For more information, please visit our website at:

19th Annual Festival
March 22-25, 2012

More on the Los Angeles Women's Theatre Festival:
LAWTF was founded in 1993 as an annual venue for solo multi-discipline
women performers. Inspired by Philadelphia's Women's Theatre
Festival(WTF), LAWTF was conceived following the National Women's
Theatre Festival, a satellite program, held at UCLA in 1992. Following
the close of the festival, co-founders Miriam Reed and Adilah Barnes
convened a group of solo artists to determine how they might
collectively support each other.

LAWTF identifies and satisfies a need for women artists to share their
individual voices, both culturally and experientially. Solo artists of
diverse disciplines including actors, dancers, story tellers,
performance artists, performance poets, sculptors and comedians, are the
reason why LAWTF is a celebration of women as artists and cherishes the
dignity of women in their roles as daughters, mothers and shapers of the
community.

The LAWTF, like many non profits, relies on the generosity of our
supporters, corporate donors, individuals and volunteers in order to
continue bringing educational workshops into the schools and surrounding
communities. Additionally, the support we receive goes a long way
towards allowing us to hold our annual festival featuring talented women
artists from around the world.
